Chikaramangaによるビート・アルバム・シリーズ『Progressing to the Stone Age』の第2章。今作『Phase Two』では、前作に続きAkai MPC60とMaschineを駆使し、90年代半ばのヒップホップ・ビートの本質にさらに深く迫る。

荒削りながらも芯のあるグルーヴ、ラフに刻まれたドラム、そして70〜80年代の国境を越えたレコードからのサンプリング――本作は、ヒップホップ黄金期の空気感を現代的な感性と技術で再構築した1枚。
古き良き90sヒップホップの美学と、Maschineによる先鋭的な編集・構築技術が融合し、懐かしさと新しさが共存するサウンドスケープを描き出している。

About Chikaramanga

Chikaramanga, revered for his role in the iconic Los Angeles-based hip hop collective Giant Panda, has brought his craft back to his hometown of Tokyo. With a prolific history in the underground hip hop scene of the early 2000s, he was a driving force behind Giant Panda's two acclaimed albums. Known for his mastery of a classic and vintage Akai sampler, MPC 60, and Maschine, Chikaramanga also leads the LA-based label TRES, supporting its mission to "preserve the tradition, yet stimulate the progress." Drawing inspiration from 70s and 80s Japanese vinyl, his beats transcend eras and continents, bridging generations of hip-hop fans—from those who experienced 90s hip hop firsthand to the current generation discovering its timeless appeal.
